Job Description

Unisys Federal Systems is seeking creative and experienced User Experience Technical Lead(SME) who are enthusiastic and skilled in working on lean product innovation. Our User Experience Technical Lead(SME) must be exceptional hands-on doers and leaders jacks of many trades and master of several across numerous facets of human-centered design and user experience spanning UX strategy, experience/interaction design, user research/assessment, rapid UI prototyping, and visual design. Our lean, agile, human-centered development approach puts a premium on using lean UX methods with tight integration and close collaboration with cross-functional teams (innovation principals, tech architects, developers, business analysts, and program managers) and clients.

• Plan, lead, and execute end-to-end UX projects and work-streams within product and service innovation programs
• Lead and help facilitate collaborative workshops (internal and with customers) for a range of purposes (e.g., discovery, design reviews, product definition, planning, and prioritization)
• Play a lead role and execute lean UX research and modeling to understand user needs as strategic input into product definition, product strategy, end-to-end solution/experience design, adoption strategy and program planning
• Play a lead role in iterative learning (e.g., user assessments) and adoption measurement activities to inspire and inform product innovation and optimization
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, and Tech Architects on release planning, estimation, feasibility analysis, agile development planning etc.
• Collaborate with a cross functional team to connect the dots between UX (e.g., user scenarios and adoption narratives, interaction designs, etc.) and agile development work (e.g., agile sprint planning, and user story creation Conduct scenario based reviews of designs, prototypes, and products as part of the lean life cycle and UX quality assurance
• Lead and/or execute key aspects of product definition work including but not limited to UX storyboarding, UX concept sketches and experience models, UX architecture diagrams, high level UI wireframes and flows
• Lead the creation and/or create detailed interaction designs, creating lean artifacts including wireframes, sketches, mockups etc. to inform iterative development
• Oversee and facilitate (inspire and guide) the UX work (interaction design, visual design, UI prototyping) of other UX team members on a project or on one or more tracks of work
• Review and facilitate all aspects of UX design work (interaction design, visual design) on a project or across one or more tracks of work


• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in all major facets of human-centered design and UX in both consulting and lean-agile product development contexts across diverse problem domains

• Bachelor's degree
• High level of expertise, creativity, and adaptability in all facets of qualitative and quantitative UX research, assessment, and measurement
• Strong skills in user experience strategy, experience design (interaction design and UX architecture), and business process analysis
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
• Experience and expertise in the meaningful analysis of application/product usage leveraging web analytic tools
•Knowledge of the application of usability standards and compliance of section 508 Web Accessibility.
•Experience as a User Experience (UX) lead, usability engineer, user experience (UX) designer, user experience (UX) analyst, experience designer, interaction designer, or other equivalent title in software or website design.
•Experience conducting and documenting user research activities in support of web development (e.g., conducting usability research, planning and facilitating usability sessions, facilitating and conducting focus groups, gathering and prioritizing business requirements, developing user stories, task lists, workflow diagrams, personas, scenarios and detailed use cases).
•Experience developing user-centered conceptual designs (via mockups, wireframes creation and iteration).
•Experience developing user-centered logical design (via story boards, clickable prototypes).
•Experience developing information architecture and site taxonomies.
•Experience developing and applying Enterprise Pattern Libraries/Style Guides/Design Systems for Enterprise solutions.
•Experience evaluating and refining prototypes using various usability techniques (on user groups both local and remote).
•Three (3) or more years of experience prototyping iterative wireframe designs for interactive computer systems.
•Three (3) or more years of experience researching, planning, moderating, and facilitating usability sessions.
•Possess Human Factors International (HFI), Nielsen Norman Group (NNG) or equivalent user experience/human factors/human-computer interaction certification; or possess an academic 4-year degree or equivalent in user experience/human factors/human-computer interaction.
