Job Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Reston, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

The Infrastructure Systems Engineer is responsible for providing engineering design, technical capability development, and solution implementation. This position will provide senior technical leadership in the development and deployment of software defined infrastructure, private cloud, Infrastructure as Code, IT automation, and DevOps solutions. This position is required to provide senior technical expertise in resolving challenging technical problems. It guides hardware and software selection, procurement, and configuration, and engages with partners, vendors, and team members to ensure project success.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Actively identify technical innovations and emerging capabilities, develop expertise in innovative technologies, develop and manage vendor relationships, conduct proof of concept testing, develop solution demos, provide differentiating solutions for new business capture and proposal support. 
  • Lead solution delivery to customers and contract programs by providing assessment on the current state of our customers’ infrastructure environment, designing target engineering architecture, leading solution piloting and implementation. 

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree and minimum 15 years of overall experience or equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Experience in architecting and engineering software defined infrastructure, hyperconverged infrastructure systems, and private cloud solutions
  • Provide detailed analysis, requirements gathering, strategic direction and planning to develop logical, conceptual and physical architectural models
  • Ability to align Unisys and customers strategic business plans/goals with technology architectures to support them
  • Effectively communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies to project teams verbally and in writing
  • Strong hands on experience in VMware, Nutanix, Ansible or Puppet/Chef. 
  • Experience with CICD (Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery)/DevOps toolchains. 
  • Scripting/programing skills in one or multiple languages listed below: Python, Powershell, Augular JS, Node.JS, or Ruby on Rails. 
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations 
  • 8+ years overall IT experience

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience with VMWare stack, and Public Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) 
  • Experience with architecting and implementing CloudFoundry and Openshift solutions
  • Experience with container architecture, design, and operation management 
  • Strong networking experience
