Job Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer service oriented Senior Solr Developer to join our team in Alexandria, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, administer and contribute to development of search applications utilizing Java and Solr technologies
  • Develop custom plugins to connect Solr with LDAP, RBAC, and/or IDM
  • Develop best practices for Solr implementation and usage
  • Work with clients to translate business requirements into software solutions
  • Design and implement backend application interfaces for data and services
  • Support production software operations
  • Test and debug programs
  • Assist the Project Manager and Technical Leads in project planning, and tasks and timeline determination to deliver quality project artifacts
  • Follow standard operating procedures, comply with SDLC standards, and follow established change management processes to meet client objectives and requirements
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging technologies for potential client application

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of web-based application development experience
  • 4+ years of web application development experience integrating with search technologies
  • Knowledge of Solr and Secure Solr Services including Admin Console
  • Experience administering large scale SOLR clusters
  • Experience with Apache Solr installation, configuration, administration, patching, and migration
  • Expertise using Java to deliver web-based applications
  • Experience with Apache Solr, Lucene, Spark, and Zookeeper
  • Experience with Solr Master/Slave Replication implementations or Solr Cloud
  • Knowledge of consuming RESTful APIs
  • Ability to write and document clean and efficient code
  • Knowledge of common development principles and design patterns
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle and version control
  • Experience with Agile software delivery
