Job Description

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Sr. Data Architect interested in joining our team in Reston, VA and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

Duties:

Architecting strategic, scalable BI, Big Data solutions, and data warehousing in the cloud

Designing requirements and implmenting processes to accomplish complex data integration (batch, micro-batches, real-time data streaming) across multiple business application data sources (internal and/or external) utilizing appropriate AWS Services including those utilizing the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g. HDFS, Apache nifi, Spark, Map Reduce, Pig, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie), storage solutions, and the various RDS or RDBMS (knowledge of Redshift is preferable)

Experience building ETL processes utilizing tools such as Apache nifi. It will be a bonus if the candidate additionally knows R, Python, Power BI or SAS. Responsible for supporting testing, deployment and release management as it relates to the implemented data architecture. Proven ability to make decisions in technology selection and implementation approach based on long-term strategic objectives, while taking into consideration short-term implications for ongoing or planned implementations. Work with business teams and technical analysts to understand business requirements. Determine how to leverage technology to create pragmatic & cost effective solutions that satisfy the business requirements. Experience in building Business Intelligence platforms in an enterprise environment. Responsible for driving innovation and developing proof-of-concept and prototypes to help illustrate approaches to technology and business problems.

Requirements

MS plus 15 years of experience or equivalent

Experience building platforms and deploying cloud based tools and solutions with cloud technologies (e.g. AWS EMR, RDS, Kinesis, Redshift). Experience automating environment configuration and deployment with tools like Chef and Cloud Foundry. Experience developing distributed computing Big Data applications using Open Source frameworks like Apache Spark, Apex, Flink, Storm, NIFI and Kafka. Experience leveraging DevOps techniques and practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Automation, Build Automation and Test Driven Development to enable the rapid delivery of end user capabilities. Experience with Hadoop - performance tuning and monitoring clusters in an enterprise production environment. Experience with custom Data pipeline development (Cloud and locally hosted).Candidate should have strong knowledge and exposure to cloud environments (primarily on the AWS Services - as must have, secondarily on Microsoft Azure etc.) and experience. Operationalize data management and governance tools on an open source framework AWS Certified Solution Architect Preferred
