Job Description

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Project Engineers interested in joining our team in Springfield, VA and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall project orchestration and performance in support of technical objectives.  Reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, the project Engineer plays a critical role on program and is accountable for mission-based outcomes.  The Project Engineer leads project planning and tracking, performs risk management, applies best practices and lessons-learned, and collaborates with the program, customer, and mission partner stakeholders. 

Responsibilities Include:
• Translate high level program strategies into systems requirements and work with development contractors to ensure work is consistent with customer strategies
• Evaluate, coordinate the evaluation of emerging technologies, services, and data types for mission use
• Develop operations concepts in support of establishing new capabilities, architectural trades to assess efficient implementation of new capabilities. and develop requirements in support of new capabilities defined through the Request for Change (RFC) process
• Networking with the NSG and IC mission partner organizations
• Identify risks, and establish and execute mitigation plans
• Act as the technical point of contact for resolving technical issues within the program and coordination among various stakeholders
• Evaluate impacts on segments and overall program related to cost, schedule and performance based on potential program changes
• Serve as customer liaison and be able to establish and maintain high level of customer intimacy
• Prepare and present status briefings to program and customer leadership

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI Clearance with Poly
• Bachelor’s  degree in CS / Science / Engineering  or related technical experience and 6+ years of systems engineering, systems integration or systems development experience or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience with IC or DoD mission engineering
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management best practices
• Ability to assess architectural impacts of new capabilities or proposed changes and provide recommendation on path forward
• Ability to develop and formulate solutions for problems/issues
• Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective customer relationships with senior level government personnel; ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Self-starter and able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent written/verbal communications, technical/non-technical presentation skills

Desired Qualifications:
• Understanding of Hyperspectral Phenomenology
• Technical background with analyst exposure
• PMP Certification
• Demonstrated project leadership skills and experience
• Experience managing system interfaces and end-to-end systems integration of new and existing capabilities
• Superior organizational and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interface effectively via written and oral communications with personnel at all levels of government and contractor staff
• Strong skills using MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• 1+ years’ experience with cloud technologies
• 1+ years’ experience with agile development methodologies
• Ability to work in and figure out “white space”
